Stephen Jones contest for acclaimed Hats exhibit

posted on 08 Aug 2011 21:17 by Sara Spink

I realize that this is awfully late notice for the contest at hand, though not to publicize the exhibition itself. As Hats: An Anthology, a collaboration between London's V A and Stephen Jones, who is touted as one of the fashion world’s most prolific milliners, makes its way to New York City and the Bard Graduate Center, Jones invites design submissions for a hat that will be displayed in the...

Despite allotting most of the afternoon for our visit (sadly I had a bus to catch), we hardly scratched the surface of what the Corning Museum of Glass has to offer. We did, however, see the hot glassblowing demonstration, possibly the most...

Museum of the City of New York

posted on 16 Jul 2011 01:45 by Sara Spink

A few weeks ago I visited the Museum of the City of New York for the first time, specifically to see The American Style: Colonial Revival and the Modern Metropolis, focusing on New York's central role in disseminating and popularizing the style nationwide. With a wide array of decorative and graphic materials, the exhibition presents an edited but cogent survey of the style and its varied...
