Gardens of the Alhambra at NYBG

posted on 30 Aug 2011 03:54 by Sara Spink

When I read about the New York Botanical Garden's re-creation of the Alhambra Gardens I was raring to go – and, not having been there before, was not aware that the exhibit's installation in the Haupt Conservatory necessarily imposed particular limitations on its extent (notably a restricted space and floorplan). Consequently my minds-eye view of its potential was, perhaps, a bit lofty (read:...

Stephen Jones contest for acclaimed Hats exhibit

posted on 08 Aug 2011 21:17 by Sara Spink

I realize that this is awfully late notice for the contest at hand, though not to publicize the exhibition itself. I'm not sure when this happened, because I've been lamenting the lack of it for seemingly forever, but the Barnes now has a searchable collection database. Very exciting! And appropriately timed, given that the Merion location is temporarily closed....

About Corning

posted on 02 Aug 2011 04:03 by Sara Spink

It's pretty awesome. And huge! If you think glass is a narrow focus, and dare I suggest you might even consider it dull, think again (and do it now). Despite allotting most of the afternoon for our visit (sadly I had a bus to catch), we hardly scratched the surface of what the Corning Museum of Glass has to offer. We did, however, see the hot glassblowing demonstration, possibly the most...
